Community Gardens Greenhouse - Lowell, MA
Plant a Row for the Hungry
Seeds
Collecting seeds at year end? Donate a few to the greenhouse. We’ll plant in next year’s
garden. If we have too many seeds, we’ll create starter kits for donors who commit to Plant a
Row for the Hungry and donate to the food pantry.
We will also accept seeds for annual flowers, such as marigolds, that help to keep
pests away, or that draw beneficial insects to the garden.
Perennials
Growing perennial produce or herbs? Donate starter stock through our Perennial Partners
program. Specify that it is being donated for Plant a Row for the Hungry. We'll plant in our
garden and grow next year. Produce reaped will be donated to the organizations participating
in this Plant a Row for the Hungry program.
If we get too much, we'll give to gardener's who agree to Plant a Row for the Hungry, or we
may sell at our annual plant sale to fund this program.
Composting
Remember to compost produce scraps, egg shells, coffee grinds, tea bags, leaves, etc.
Contact us for more information if you do not know how or if you are looking for town/city
resources. The Community Gardens Greenhouse is participating in a pilot compost project.
Note: Some local businesses are also participating in the compost pilot project.
