Growing plants has been my passion
since I planted a watermelon seed at
age nine. It was the most beautiful thing
I’d ever seen. Later, any and every plant
was appealing - I wanted them all.

gratefully accepted. It was the most
rewarding week of my life. I thanked
God and Mary everyday for giving me
that garden.
Thanks to my dear friend Robin, I met Janice and the first Community Gardens’
Greenhouse marigold I planted in 2005 at the Garden of Big Ideas and Earthly Delights
changed my life and my vision. I was immediately blessed with a request to help
Volunteers - Growing communities from the ground up!

Deborah Harding has 24 years of extensive business experience in customer training and support,
job and program development, training, education, design and delivery of high-end application
software.
Since 2004, Deborah's volunteer activities include: plant restoration and upkeep in the Victorian
Garden and the Revolving Museum and the development and maintenance of Community Garden's
Greenhouse community garden training. Deborah initiated several projects toward Lowell's
beautification in partnership with the Lowell National Parks including Get WasteED, a pet waste
education program and Perennial Partners, a community sharing perennial plant program.
Past experiences include serving on the Lowell Day Nursery Board of Directors, the Dom Polski
Scholarship Committee and IBM's Customer Support Daughter's Day Committee.

Herbs became my favorite, constantly
drying in my kitchen, dreaming of owning
a greenhouse and plant business.
I admit, I never cared about redecorating
my homes. I lived for the yard and what I
was growing or planning to grow that
year.
Thanks to fate, friends, a community
which supports a greenhouse vision,
and what many think is insanity, I now
have the opportunity to dedicate myself
to Lowell’s Community Gardens
Greenhouse, community service, and
start my own herb farm. I've never been
